Legend Hunter

2016 - 2019

With an avid thirst for adventure and innate curiosity, wildlife biologist and explorer Pat Spain is leaving his lab to uncover answers to fascinating unsolved riddles, historic conundrums and mythic events in the new Travel Channel series “Legend Hunter.” Premiering Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, the seven-episode series showcases Spain as he uses his scientific expertise and state-of-the-art technology to investigate infamous tales of murder, theft and unexplained events.  He embarks on a hunt to recover a $20 million stolen Irish fortune, finds new evidence that could reveal the identity of Jack the Ripper, delves into the grizzly crimes of Lizzie Borden and goes on a quest for a werewolf-like creature rumored to haunt the residents of Elkhorn, Wisconsin.

As the great nephew of Charles Fort – the “Prophet of the Unexplained” – Spain carries on the family legacy by questioning mainstream science and investigating things that science often writes off as impossible. Now, with “Legend Hunter,” he will consider unusual explanations of bizarre phenomena to crack open some of history’s most mind-boggling mysteries, crimes and creatures.

Beast Hunter

2009-2012

A massive one-eyed monster lurking in the Amazon. A freakish desert creature spraying acid and delivering electric shocks. An ape-like creature walking upright in the Indonesian jungle. You won’t find them under your bed. These are the monsters of persistent myth and legend … and may just be based on real creatures. If they are out there, someone needs to find them and document them to prove their existence.

Meet Pat Spain, a young wildlife biologist working in an ultra-advanced biotech facility. He is also an explorer willing to go to extremes to separate fact from fiction. Spain travels the globe in search of mythical creatures that stalk our wildernesses. From the Brazilian Amazon to the Gobi Desert, Spain begins each mission with adventure in his veins and a tradition of investigating monsters in his DNA. His great-uncle, Charles Fort, was a paranormal pioneer who investigated strange reports from around the world at the start of the 20th century. Now Spain continues the legacy of scouting the bizarre and brings the latest technology to search for a scientific explanation for the seemingly outlandish stories that local tribes and residents swear are truth.
